Λεβητοειδές ηχείο καλυμμένο με μεμβράνη. Κάθε τύμπανο μπορεί να παράγει μόνο μία νότα, δηλαδή συγκεκριμένο τονικό ύψος, ανάλογα με το πόσο είναι τεντωμένη η μεμβράνη. Οι επικρουστήρες στις απολήξεις τους έχουν σφαιρικό σχήμα από μαλακό υλικό (EL)
