Ιστορικό Σημείωμα: Οικογένεια προκρίτων της Μήλου, η οποία διαδραμάτισε σημαντικό ρόλο στα δημόσια πράγματα του νησιού από τον 16ο αιώνα. Το συγκεκριμένο οικόσημο, που βρίσκεται εντοιχισμένο στο υπέρθυρο ναού στη Μήλο, βάσει της ημερομηνίας 1616 και των αρχικών Μ και Κ που το συνοδεύουν, αποδίδεται από τον μελετητή Ανδρέα Λεντάκη στον Μιχελή Κοτάκη, ο οποίος το 1605 αναφέρεται ως "αυθέντης επίτροπος" του κοινού της Μήλου.

Historical Notice: Family of notables of Milos, with an important presence in the local community, since the 16th century. This particular coat-of-arms is to be found above the entrance of the church of Agia Marina in Milos, accompanied by the date 1616 and the initials Μ and Κ. Based on the latter, the scholar Andreas Lentakis attributes it to Michelis Kotakis, "lord commissioner" of Milos and Kimolos (1605).
