Ιστορικό Σημείωμα: Το εραλδικό αυτό σύνολο, που βρίσκεται στο φρούριο της Μεθώνης, περιλαμβάνει το λέοντα του Αγίου Μάρκου, δύο οικόσημα του Βενετού καπιτάνου Μεθώνης Antonio Bononi (1497-1499) και ένα οικόσημο (κάτω) του καστελλάνου Μεθώνης Vitale Miani (1406-1407). Υπενθυμίζεται ότι η Μεθώνη διετέλεσε υπό βενετική κυριαρχία για δύο περιόδους, από το 1206 έως το 1500 και από το 1686 έως το 1715. (EL)

Historical Notice: This heraldic ensemble, posed on the walls of Methoni, includes the Venetian lion of Saint Mark, accompanied by two coats-of-arms of the Venetian captain of Methoni Antonio Bononi (1497-1499) and one coat-of-arms (bottom) of the castellan of Methoni Vitale Miani (1406-1407). Methoni was under Venetian rule during two periods, from 1206 to 1500 and from 1686 to 1715. (EN)
