2) Πόθεν προήλθε η ονομασία του χωριού: Πέτρα του Διγενή. Τούτο είναι ένα μικρό χωρίο στην επαρχία Λευκωσίας, στο διαμέρισμα τα Κυθρέας. Η εκδοχή που δίνουμε παρακάτω κρίνεται η πιθανή. Κάποτε στα παράλια, κοντά στον κόλπο της παληάς Σαλαμίνας, γινόταν ο γάμος μιας κοπέλλας, που πολύ αγαπούσε ο Διγενής Ακρίτας. Αυτός μαζί με τη μητέρα του βρισκόταν στο λημέρι του στο απέναντι βουνό του Πενταδάχτυλου. Από την πολλή του ήλεια, θέλοντας να ματαιώση το γάμο, άρπαξε ένα μεγάλο βράχο με θυμό κι ετοιμάστηκε να τον ρίξη στη γαμήλια πομπή. Μα η μάνα του, που δεν ήθελε να γίνη φονικό σε αθώα πλάσματα, πρόλαβε και τον άρπαξε από το μπράτσο μποδίζοντας το γυιό της. Κι η πέτρα που προοριζόταν για να σκοτώση και να ικανοποιήση τη ζήλεια του Διγενή Ακρίτα, αντί να πέση κάτω στην ακροθαλασσιά της Σαλαμίνας, έπεσε μπροστά λίγο μακρυά απ’ την Κυθρέα, στην περιοχή, που σήμερα είναι χωριό που του δόθηκε το όνομα Πέτρα του Διγενή. Η πέτρα αυτή βρίσκεται κει, στην ίδια θέση, μέχρι σήμερα.

Πόθεν προήλθε η ονομασία του χωριού: Πέτρα του Διγενή. Τούτο είναι ένα μικρό χωρίο στην επαρχία Λευκωσίας, στο διαμέρισμα της Κυθρέας. Η εκδοχή που δίνουμε παρακάτω κρίνεται η πιθανή. Κάοτε στα παράλια, κοντά στον κόλπο της παληάς Σαλαμίνας, γινόταν ο γάμος μιας κοπέλλας, που πολύ αγαπούσε ο Διγενής Ακρίτας. Αυτός μαζί με την μητέρα του βρισκόταν στο λημέρι του στο απέναντι βουνό του Πενταδάχτυλου. Από την πολλή του ζήλεια, θέλοντας να ματαιώση το γάμο, άρπαξε ένα μεγάλο βράχο με θυμό κι ετοιμάστηκε να τον ρίξη στη γαμήλια πομπή. Μα η μάνα του, που δεν ήθελε να γίνη φονικό σε αθώα πλάσματα, πρόλαβε και τον άρπαξε από το μπράτσο μποδίζονταν το γυιό της. Κι η πέτρα που προοριζόταν για να σκοτώση και να ικανοποιήση τη ζήλεια του Διγενή Ακρίτα, αντί να πέση κάτω στην ακροθαλασσιά της Σαλαμίνας, έπεσε μπροστά λίγο μακρυά απ ‘ τη Κυθρέα, στην περιοχή, που σήμερα είναι χωριό που του δόθηκε το όνομα Πέτρα του Διγενή. Η πέτρα αυτή βρίσκεται κει, στην ίδια θέση, μέχρι σήμερα.
