The Mingei project strengthened the representation and digital conservation preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage due to traditional crafts. Mingei provided the tools to record and represent crafts, through the curation of digital assets. This representation captures the wide spectrum of knowledge that traditional crafts cover, from objects and their making to their cultural, societal, and economic significance. This collection contains digital assets relevant to the “Know-how of cultivating mastic on the island of Chios” [UNESCO inscription 9.COM 10.18, (2014)] and “Tinian marble craftsmanship” [UNESCO inscription 10.COM 10.b.17, (2015)] that were collected in the Mingei project. Mingei has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 822336, Call Topic: DT-TRANSFORMATIONS-12-2018-2020.
