ΒΙΟΜΗΧΑΝΙΚΗ ΕΓΚΑΤΑΣΤΑΣΗ- Η επιλογή της θέσης έγινε με γνώμονα την γειτνίαση με την θάλασσα, που τους παρείχε άφθονο νερό για το ξέπλυμα των κρεάτων μετά την σφαγή των ζώων τοπικής παραγωγής, αμνοεριφίων και βοοειδών. Τα γουρούνια τα έσφαζαν στις αγροικίες. Η λειτουργία τους ξεκίνησε κατά τα τέλη της δεκαετίας του΄40 μέχρι το 1985, οπότε μεταφέρθηκαν σε κτίριο σύγχρονο. Ο χώρος των σφαγείων ήταν ασκεπής και οριζόταν από πέτρινο ψιλό τοίχο. Ο εξοπλισμός ήταν υποτυπώδης και περιελάμβανε μπαλτάδες μαχαίρια και πάγκο. Οι συνθήκες υγιεινής ήταν ιδιαίτερα ελλιπείς .Το κτίριο δεν ήταν συνδεδεμένο με αποχέτευση, με αποτέλεσμα αίματα και άλλες ακαθαρσίες να ρίχνονται στη θάλασσα. Μετά την σφαγή τα κρέατα διατίθεντο προς πώληση, είτε απευθείας στους καταναλωτές είτε σε κρεοπωλεία. (EL)

INDUSTRIAL FACILITY- The location was chosen based on its proximity to the sea, which provided with plenty of water for washing the meat after the slaughter of locally produced animals, lambs and cattle. The pigs were slaughtered in the farmhouses. Their operation began in the late 40s until 1985, when they were moved to a modern building. The area of the slaughterhouses was uncovered and defined by a thin stone wall. The equipment was rudimentary and consisted of machetes, knives and a bench. The sanitary conditions were particularly deficient. The building was not connected to a sewer, with the result that blood and other impurities were thrown into the sea. After slaughter, the meats were sold, either directly to consumers or to butchers. (EN)
