Tαφικός πίθος πολεμιστή του 725 π.Χ. στα Νιχώρια. Ο πολεμιστής (άγνωστο με ποια πλευρά πολεμούσε στον Α'Μεσσηνιακό πόλεμο) είχε ταφεί μαζί με το σιδερένιο ξίφος του και το δόρυ του, ένα χάλκινο δαχτυλίδι, δύο χάλκινα μπωλ και τρία αγγεία τοπικών εργαστηρίων (ένα στιλβωτό κύπελλο, έναν βαθύ κάνθαρο Αργειακού τύπου και ένα πιάτο). Τα κτερίσματα αυτά αποτελούν τα πιο ύστερα χρονολογικά στην περιοχή των Νιχωρίων, γεγονός που μας κάνει να υποθέτουμε ότι η περιοχή παρέμεινε ακατοίκητη για μεγάλο διάστημα. (EL)
Burial pithos of a warrior of 725 B.C. at Nichoria. The warrior (we don't know which side he fought on in the First Messenian War) had been buried with his iron sword and his lance, as well as with a brone ring, two bronze bowls an three pottery vessels made by local workshops (a glazed cup, a deep cantharos of the Argive type and a plate). These grave goods are the latest discovered in Nichoria, which makes us think that the region remained uninhabited for a long period. (EN)
