Η Μαρίνα Καρέλλα ξεκίνησε τη σταδιοδρομία της ως ζωγράφος. Στους πίνακές της εικονίζονται, σιωπηλά εσωτερικά, στα οποία η ανθρώπινη παρουσία, αν και απλά υποδηλώνεται, είναι έντονα υπογραμμισμένη. Το έργο “Around Time”, που ανήκει στη συλλογή του Μουσείου Σύγχρονης Τέχνης, χαρακτηρίζεται από μια ρομαντική, λυρική ατμόσφαιρα, η οποία ακροβατεί μεταξύ ζωγραφικής και ποίησης ή ονείρου και πραγματικότητας. Στη μεγάλων διαστάσεων ζωγραφική σύνθεση η καλλιτέχνιδα «παίζει» με την κίνηση και την ακινησία και αποτυπώνει μια σκηνή στην οποία επιχειρεί να εκφράσει μια ψυχική κατάσταση που μεταλλάσσεται συνεχώς από τη θλίψη στον ρομαντισμό και υποκινείται από τους συνειρμούς που γεννούν στο υποσυνείδητο τα όνειρα. Marina Karella began her career as a painter. Her paintings depict silent interiors, in which human presence, though merely implied, is strongly emphasized. The work "Around Time", which belongs to the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art, is characterized by a romantic, lyrical atmosphere that straddles the line between painting and poetry or dream and reality. In the large-scale painting composition, the artist "plays" with movement and stillness and depicts a scene in which she attempts to express a state of mind that constantly changes from sadness to romance and is motivated by the associations that dreams generate in the subconscious.
