Στο Διδασκαλείο Κρήτης στο Ηράκλειο λειτουργούσε δανειστική βιβλιοθήκη από την έναρξη της λειτουργίας του το 1901. Επρόκειτο για μια πολύ σημαντική υπηρεσία, που παρείχε μορφωτικά μέσα στους σπουδαστές και τις σπουδάστριες της εποχής. Άλλωστε, στα πρώτα χρόνια λειτουργίας του Διδασκαλείου δεν είχε ακόμη ιδρυθεί στο Ηράκλειο δημοτική βιβλιοθήκη, η οποία ιδρύθηκε το 1908. Στον τελευταίο σωζόμενο συγκεντρωτικό κατάλογο βιβλίων του Διδασκαλείου εντοπίστηκαν 666 τίτλοι, ενταγμένοι σε 5 Ταξιθετικές Κατηγορίες (Τ.Κ.): α. Γράμματα - Επιστήμαι – Τέχναι. β. Επιστημονικά. γ. Ελεύθερα αναγνώσματα. δ. Βοηθητικά. ε. Διδακτικά. Η ανωτέρω ταξινόμηση δεν αντιστοιχούσε σε κάποια αυστηρή θεματική κατηγοριοποίηση με δεδομένο ότι ορισμένα βιβλία ίδιας θεματικής ταξινομήθηκαν σε διαφορετικές Τ.Κ..
Η Τ.Κ. «Βοηθητικά» περιελάμβανε πρακτικά βοηθήματα για εκπαιδευτικούς και μαθητές/ τριες σχετικά με θέματα αρχαίας ελληνικής γραμματολογίας, γεωπονίας και φυσικών επιστημών, γεωγραφίας και ιστορίας.
Το βιβλίο "Ηροδότου Μούσαι, Ερατώ-Πολύμνια. Τόμος πρώτος" ανήκε στην κατηγορία «Βοηθητικά» της δανειστικής βιβλιοθήκης του Διδασκαλείου Κρήτης στο Ηράκλειο. Πρόκειται για τον τρίτο τόμο, που περιέχει το τρίτο και το έβδομο βιβλίο των Μουσών του Ηροδότου, από τη γνωστή σειρά των εκδόσεων Φέξη για τους Αρχαίους Έλληνες συγγραφείς, η οποία αποτέλεσε σημαντικό παιδαγωγικό βοήθημα στην εποχή της. Το βιβλίο επιμελήθηκε μεταφραστικά ο Αλέξανδρος Σκαλίδης. Στο έργο αυτό ο Ηρόδοτος περιγράφει τους πολέμους μεταξύ Περσών και Ελλήνων και σε κάθε τόμο οι μελετητές του Ηρόδοτου έχουν δώσει το όνομα μιας μούσας. Ο τρίτος τόμος ονομάζεται Ερατώ και αναφέρεται στην ιωνική επανάσταση, ενώ ο έβδομος Πολύμνια περιγράφει τον θάνατο του Δαρείου και την άνοδο του Ξέρξη στον θρόνο. Ο Ηρόδοτος (485/484-425 π.Χ.) ήταν αρχαίος Έλληνας ιστορικός, περιηγητής και γεωγράφος και θεωρήθηκε ο «πατέρας της ιστορίας», σύμφωνα με τον χαρακτηρισμό του Κικέρωνα.

A lending library was operated in the Didaskaleion of Crete in Heraklion since the beginning of its establishment in 1901. It was a very important facility, which provided educational tools to the students of that time. After all, in the first years of the operation of the Didaskaleion, a municipal library had not yet been established in Heraklion. The municipal library was founded in 1908. In the last surviving consolidated list of books of the Didaskaleion, 666 titles were found, included in 5 Classification Categories (C.C.): a. Letters - Science - Art. b. Scientific. c. Free readings. d. Ancillary. e. Didactic. The above classification did not correspond to any strict thematic categorization given that some books of the same subject were classified in different C.C..
The C.C. "Ancillary" included practical aid books for teachers and students on subjects of ancient Greek grammar, agriculture and natural sciences, geography and history.
The book "Herodotus Muses, Erato-Polymnia. Volume One" belonged to the "Auxiliaries” category of the lending library of the Didaskaleion of Crete in Heraklion. This is the third volume, containing the third and seventh books of the Muses of Herodotus, from the well-known series of Fexis publications for Ancient Greek writers, which was an important pedagogical aid textbook in its time. The translation of the book was edited by Alexandros Skalides. In this work Herodotus describes the wars between the Persians and the Greeks, and in each volume Herodotus’ scholars have given the name of a muse. The third volume is called Erato and refers to the Ionian revolution, while the seventh, Polymnia, describes the death of Darius and the rise of Xerxes to the throne. Herodotus (485/484-425 BC) was an ancient Greek historian, traveler and geographer and was considered the "father of history", according to Cicero's description.

Une bibliothèque de prêtfonctionnait à Didaskalio (École pour la formation des enseignants) de Crète à Héraklion depuis son ouverture en 1901. C’était un service très important qui fournissait des supports et outils pédagogiques aux étudiants et aux étudiantes de l’époque. D’ailleurs, pendant les premières années de fonctionnement de Didaskalio, il n’y avait pas de bibliothèque municipale à Héraklion ; celle-ci a été fondée en 1908. Dans le dernier dernier catalogueré capitulatif de livres de Didaskalio qui a été retrouvé, 666 titres d’ouvrages ont été identifiés et ceux-ci étaient classés en 5 catégories : a. Lettres–Sciences – Arts. b. Ouvrages scientifiques. c. Lectures libres. d. Guides pratiques. e. Livres de didactique/ manuels scolaires. La classification présentée ci-dessus ne correspondait pas à une catégorisation stricte, étant donné que certains ouvrages de la même thématique avaient été classés en catégories différentes.
La catégorie «Guides pratiques» comportait des guides pour les enseignants et pour les élèves qui portaient sur la grammatologie grecque de l’Antiquité, sur l’agronomie et sur les sciences naturelles, sur la géographie et l’histoire.
Le livre "Muses d’Hérodote, Érato-Polymnie" appartenait à la catégorie«Guides pratiques»de la bibliothèque de prêt de Didaskalio (École pour la formation des enseignants) de Crète à Héraklion. Ils’agitdutroisième tome qui comporte le troisième et le septième livre des Muses d’Hérodote. Il fait partie de la fameuse collection des éditions Féxis qui porte sur les écrivains grecs de l’Antiquité et a constitué un guide pédagogique important à l’époque. La traduction du livre a été réalisée par AlexandrosSkalidis. Danscet ouvrage, Hérodote décrit les guerres entre les Perses et les Grecs et les spécialistes d’Hérodote ont donné à chaque livre le nom d’une muse. Le premier livre s’intitule Érato et se réfère à la révolution ionienne, alors que le septième livre s’intitule Polymnie et décrit la mort de Darius et la monté de Xerxès sur le trône. Hérodote (485/484-425av. J.-C.) Était un historien grec de l’Antiquité, voyageur et géographe et Cicéron l’a surnommé le «père de l’Histoire».
