The Museum of Education / C.S.R.H.E.T.P. of the University of Crete was founded in 2013 aiming at searching, preserving, promoting and scientific studying of the educational school past and the history of the teaching profession during the modern period of Greek history. It includes historical material and documents of the Cretan Didaskaleion and the Pedagogical Academy of Heraklion, as well as important exhibits of schools in Crete from the late 18th century to the end of the 20th century. Through the recording and scientific analysis of the archival documents, an attempt is made to link them to the current Greek and international educational and school reality. Also, through the use of the exhibition material and the use of new technologies, visitors are involved in a variety of experiential activities. In this way they are pushed to an alternative reading and interpretation of our history and culture. The Museum is housed on the ground floor of the "Student and Cultural Centre - XENIA" in the city of Rethymnon.
